IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS IS AN ADVANCED-LEVEL COURSE. BEST FOR STUDENTS WHO ALREADY HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE WRITING IN BASIC SCREENPLAY FORM. COME PREPARED WITH YOUR ROUGH DRAFTS AND IDEAS.
This class will be held online via Zoom on Wednesdays, March 6 to April 10, from 6:30 – 9:30PM CST.
It's time to roll up your sleeves! In this workshop, writers will receive the individual attention, mentorship, and support needed to further develop and sharpen their scripts. Guided by the instructor, students will present their writing to the class for peer feedback and critique and will be expected to revise their script regularly outside of class. Discussions will revolve around character development, plotline and structure, and effective utilization of story models. Students should already have a basic knowledge of screenwriting format; the elements of structure, plot, action, and character; and must have a current screenplay underway in order to take the class.
Technical requirements: Students can access the course via a computer or smartphone. While access to a webcam or phone camera is preferable, only audio and the ability to view video are required. Students will need to install the Zoom app on their computer or smartphone, but no account is required.
Class Materials: All class materials are included and will be emailed to registered students.
