This class will be held online via Zoom on Mondays starting June 6 to August 8 from 6:30 to 9:30 PM CT. Please note there is a scheduled break for the week of July 4th.

Expand and strengthen your skills as a film producer in an interactive, project-based learning environment. Led by award-winning producer and educator Joseph R. Lewis, a.k.a. Captain Famous, students in this 8-week intensive will be guided through a series of production scenarios designed to sharpen creative instincts and cultivate critical thinking skills. Students will work in groups, pairs, and individually to complete projects and should expect an hour of homework each week. Suggested pre-requisite: Intro to Film Producing.

Course taught by Joseph Lewis

Once you register for the class, you will receive an email each week with a link to access the online classroom via Zoom. All class materials are included and will be emailed to registered students.

Technical requirements: Students can access the course via a computer or smartphone. While access to a webcam or phone camera is preferable, only audio and the ability to view video are required. Students will need to install the Zoom app on their computer or smartphone, but no account is required.

My current teacher (Joseph Lewis) has been empowering us to think about our idea and how to make it happen. There are so many different ways to show your work these days, rather than just at film festivals, there’s now streaming and online apps. It really gives me the confidence to know that I can make this happen and do it on my own.
— John Dyson, Artist, Filmmaker and Student in Producing and Developing the Documentary
