Internationally renowned Chicago-based filmmaker Marianna Milhorat’s visually stunning and surreal film and video work utilizes landscapes and duration to transform notions of space and perspective. Originating from Vermont, Marianna received her MFA from the University of Illinois-Chicago in 2012 and a BFA from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinéma at Concordia University in 2007. Emerging Inspirations Series
Our “Emerging Inspiration Series” pairs contemporary Chicago film & video artists with the work of a filmmaker who has inspired their vision. The series showcases groundbreaking moving-image media from up-and-coming artists while paying homage to the deep cultural legacy of film in Chicago. Each program will showcase one Chicago artist and inspiration(s) of their choosing and will run 80 minutes in length with an additional post-screening artist talk. This series is part of Chicago Artists Month 2013, the 18th annual celebration of Chicago’s vibrant arts community presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
