Video testimonials often form the basis for many documentary films and news clips and have long been used by non-profit and for-profit enterprises for fundraising and promotional purposes. In this newly offered two-day seminar, students will develop the foundational skill-sets necessary to continue crafting content on their own that looks and sounds professional regardless of production budgets. Whether creating a crowdfunding campaign video for an independent project or piecing together a testimonial video to demonstrate a company's new product or event, this course will provide students from all professional backgrounds and filmmaking experience levels the opportunity to master new lucrative skills under the guidance of seasoned professionals.
This seminar will be broken down into two days. During Friday night’s lecture, students will take an in-depth look at the art of recording clean and professional picture and sound while focusing on established practices for planning and recording interviews. Students will then break into small teams to practice interviewing one another in various subject matters all while gaining valuable industry insiders tips and tricks to help put interview subjects at ease. Day two will begin with further familiarization of equipment and on-set operations. By the end of the seminar, students will have begun to master many techniques involved in capturing successful interviews including preparation, equipment choice and usage, proper lighting, audio, camera placement, and selection of backgrounds. Students will participate in live demonstrations of these techniques both indoors and outdoors.
