Reception at 6:00pm
Screening at 7:00pm
Join us for a special screening and reception in honor of the 2015 grantees of The Chicago Digital Media Production Fund. The Production Fund, a project of Voqal, which is administered by Chicago Filmmakers, awards $100,000 each year to local media makers producing socially progressive work for the web. The program includes BEYOND BLIND by Matt Lauterbach, an interactive website and instructional tool that provides a nuanced understanding of sight impairment; LACES by Darrell Judon, a teen drama about racial identity and the dangers of consumerism; MCTUCKY FRIED HIGH by Robert-Carnilius, a witty web-series about the trials and tribulations of modern high school life enacted by anthropomorphic fast food; MOVING by Lori Felker, a series of short films that focus on the mystical qualities of powerful women; RIGHTS LAB by Yana Kunichoff & Scrappers Film Group, a web-series exploring the complex and changing world of surveillance and civil liberties; WOLF LAKE by Andy Resek, an intimate documentary about a local patch of land and water recovering from years of industrial abuse and the people who live and work there; and YOU’RE SO TALENTED by Sam Bailey, a sharp and funky web-series about young artists navigating their burgeoning careers in Chicago. Directors will be in attendance to discuss their work with the audience. Co-Presented by The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE).
