Here at Chicago Filmmakers, most people get to know us from our classes, screenings, and film festivals. But what a lot of people don’t know about us is that we house the Distribution Project, which is an extensive collection of 16mm and 35mm prints that range from internationally known animated films to under-seen local filmmakers ripe for rediscovery. We rent these films to museums, festivals, and cinemas across the world and we hope to be able to share these films for years to come. To help spread the word about the Distribution Project, we have collaborated with the best local film curators to design themed packages that will be available to rent. Tonight we are screening the package curated by Alexander Stewart and Lilli Carré of the Eyeworks Festival of Experimental Animation. Their package highlights the amazing selection of animated films in the Distribution Project and will include work from Osamu Tezuka, Kathy Rose, Sally Cruikshank, Ed Emshwiller, and Larry Cuba. All on glorious film!
