Dyke Delicious is busy in the edit room for our April program! The makers of Bad Girls Behind Bars are taking a lesbian look-see at the beautiful and spunky Gia Carangi.

The life of Gia was first brought to our attention by the HBO movie epic starring Angelina Jolie. Now the editing mavens are at it again, mixing up various, rarely seen documentary and home movie footage of the lesbian supermodel. Though her death from AIDS was tragic, tonight we will focus on Gia's breathtaking beauty
and her love of women.

GIA GIA GIA!
Concocted by Sharon Zurek

Before Cindy Crawford and Tyra, Gia was the first to be called a SUPER MODEL. Much attention has been spent on her addiction to heroin and her death at 26 years old from AIDS. Much less attention has been directed to the fact that she was a lesbian. Gia loved women and made her desires known to all
who would listen.

Abandoned by her mother as a young girl, raised by her father (who, it is implied, sexually abused his daughter), Gia wanted to find a woman to settle down with, to share her life with and to be the family she felt she never had.

Enter, Sandy Linter, a hairdresser and straight woman who Gia fell for head over stiletto heels. Their relationship proved to be a disaster for Gia.

It has also been thought that Gia suffered from bipolar disorder. With her introduction to hardcore drugs while working in the modeling industry to numb her emotional pain and emptiness, this combination would have challenged even the toughest dyke.

We hope the future of Gia's legacy is to also let young lesbians who may be bipolar find the support they deserve from their family and friends and the medical help they need to live happy, healthy lives.
