Chicago Filmmakers

Digital Moviemaking Summer Camps

INFORMATION SHEET

Emphasizing the idea of film as art, campers will enjoy bringing their imaginations to the screen as they learn about all phases of moviemaking, including pre-production planning, storyboarding, digital video cameras, lighting, sound, shot composition, and computer editing. This will be a hands-on, creative, and fun opportunity for campers to express themselves and share and develop their own talents. They will work collaboratively on group projects and each student will receive a copy (vhs or DVD) at the end of the camp. We will schedule a screening of the work at Chicago Filmmakers for parents and friends to view. (See past final projects)

Last summer, the videos made included "fractured fairy tales" (10-14 year olds) and fictional video blogs (15-18 year olds), in addition to other short works. Films created in the camp may be submitted for screening consideration by youth-related film festivals.
