FILM FESTIVAL JOB OPENINGS AT REELING 2011
Chicago Filmmakers announces immediate openings for two seasonal positions with Reeling 2011: The 30th Chicago Lesbian & Gay International Film Festival. Reeling is the second oldest lesbian and gay film festival in the world, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and is a project of Chicago Filmmakers, a 37 year-old non-profit media arts organization. The festival takes place November 3-12, 2011.
Positions include: Marketing & Public Relations Director and Festival Operations Manager. These are temporary contract positions starting immediately and extending until after the festival. These are salaried positions and overtime hours are to be expected. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Must have immediate availability.

Position:
Marketing and Public Relations Director
Responsible for all aspects of marketing and promoting Reeling 2011: The 30th Chicago Lesbian & Gay International Film Festival.
Full-time now through November 18.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include developing and coordinating the production of all festival marketing materials (newsprint schedule, program book, postcards, posters, invitations), including working with graphic designers and printers, and writing film descriptions as well as other promotional copy. The Marketing Director will also be responsible for overseeing the content development of the website and coordinating advertising and promotional outreach. This job willalso entail writing and disseminating press releases and email newsletters; producing, duplicating, and distributing press information, photo CDs, and clip reels; arranging preview screenings by film critics; setting up press interviews; and generating radio, television, and print coverage of the festival. The Marketing Director will supervise interns working on social media marketing. The Marketing Director will compile and write a marketing report after the festival.
Qualifications:
We are seeking applicants with excellent copywriting skills and creative marketing ideas who can engender a sense of excitement about the festival. Must be energetic, enthusiastic, accurate with details, and able to work effectively within tight deadlines. Must have marketing, promotions, public relations or related experience, as well as experience working with graphic and/or web designers. Previous film festival experience highly desired. Knowledge of Macintosh applications, especially Photoshop, preferred.
Position:
Festival Operations Manager
A key organizing position responsible for the management and smooth running of operations for Reeling 2011: The 30th Chicago Lesbian & Gay International Film Festival.
Full-time now through at least November 13 (possibly November 18).
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers and interns; overseeing festival venues, ticketing, box office, and theater management; coordinating pre-production of special events and on-site management; assisting with promotional outreach, including distribution of marketing materials and coordinating community outreach; managing memberships; and other duties as assigned. The Operations Manager will hire and train box office and other temporary operations staff.
Qualifications:
This position requires someone who is highly organized, multi-task oriented, able to manage logistics and people, and to act effectively under pressure. Preferred applicants are those with previous film festival or other types of special event management or volunteer/staff management experience and/or film production managers. Must have a car.
