Chicago Filmmakers offers college-level classes in film and video production. For newcomers, we recommend starting with Digital Moviemaking for a broad overview of the production process, then taking classes in various disciplines that interest you. Persons with experience in filmmaking may further their training with specialized courses and workshops. In either case, you will find a quality education similar to those found at accredited schools and universities, but for a fraction of the time and cost. Plus, you can become part of a filmmaking community that can support and sustain you for many projects to come.
Enrollment in Chicago Filmmakers' classes usually fills quickly, so we recommend that you register early.

A $50 minimum non-refundable deposit is required to hold a place in a class, with balance due no later than two weeks before the class or workshop begins.
Your class enrollment will be confirmed by email within 2-3 business days of a successful payment. If for any reason you do not receive a confirmation email, or have questions regarding your enrollment, please contact our office at 773-293-1447.
Since classes have a strictly limited enrollment, withdrawal from a class must be at least two weeks prior to the start of the class to receive a refund (minus a $25 processing fee). Withdrawals after the two-week mark will forfeit $50 of the class fee, with the balance refunded. To receive a refund (minus the processing fee), you must submit a written, dated request (email preferred) to Chicago Filmmakers at least 3 business days prior to the first class meeting. There are NO refunds or credit given less than three full business days before the first class.
The full camp fee can be paid at the time of registration. A $200 minimum deposit can be paid to hold a space in the class, with the balance due May 1. If the student is withdrawn from the camp prior to June 1, a refund will be issued minus a $25 processing fee. After June 1, no refunds or credits will be issued.
While we understand that sometimes things happen, Chicago Filmmakers cannot be held responsible for refund requests (made after 3 full business days prior to the start of the course) due to illness, personal emergency, unattended classes, no-shows, or any event not under our control.
Chicago Filmmakers does reserve the right to cancel a class due to insufficient registration/low enrollment. A minimum enrollment of 4 students is usually required for a class to run. If we cancel a class due to low enrollment or other reasons, you will be notified by phone before the class start date, and we will automatically issue a course credit to the purchaser's account. If you would like a credit card refund, please contact us at 773-293-1447. If a class is cancelled, students are eligible for a full refund. In the event of a canceled class, we would love to help you find an alternate course! Please register early to ensure your preferred class will run.
Before registering for a class, considering joining our Chicago Filmmakers Co-Op Membership program. Chicago Filmmaker Co-Op Members receive discounts on classes, screenings, and services at local partnering businesses, as well as access to low-cost equipment rentals. Filmmaker Membership is $50 per year. You may become a Member at the time of enrollment to receive the member's discount.
We accept cash, checks, Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover. There is no tax on classes or workshops.
